To get the best results with Treat Pod, it’s essential to prepare your artwork correctly.
Following these guidelines will help ensure your designs print sharply, line up correctly on products, and delight your customers.
Here’s everything you need to know.
1️⃣ File Types We Accept
✅ Recommended: PNG
- Best for designs with transparency (e.g. logos, text, layered graphics).
- Allows you to have clear/transparent backgrounds where needed.
✅ Also accepted: JPEG/JPG
- Suitable for full-bleed photos or designs with solid backgrounds.
- No transparency support.
Tip: Always export your final design at high quality to avoid compression artefacts.
2️⃣ Recommended Resolution & Quality
✅ For best print results: 300dpi (dots per inch).
- Higher resolution means sharper, clearer prints.
- Low-resolution images may look pixelated or blurry on the final product.
✅ Size matters!
- Always ensure your design matches the product’s print area in pixels.
- Our design tool will show recommended dimensions for each product.
- On many product pages we offer PSD template files with the print areas already defined, which may help in your design process.
Tip: If in doubt, go bigger — you can always scale down, but not up without losing quality.
3️⃣ Transparency & Backgrounds
✅ Use PNG for designs needing transparent backgrounds.
- Ideal for placing artwork cleanly on mugs, coasters, textiles etc.
- No unwanted white boxes or borders.
✅ Avoid “fake” transparency.
- Erase backgrounds properly in your design software.
- Check carefully before uploading.
✅ Solid backgrounds are fine if you want them!
- Just make sure they’re intentional.
4️⃣ Safe Zones & Bleed Areas
✅ Always keep critical elements (text, logos) inside the safe zone.
- Products can have slight movement during printing.
- Avoid putting important details right at the edges.
✅ Consider bleed where needed.
- Some products need extra image area to wrap or cover edges fully.
- Our design tool and templates will show where bleed is recommended.
Tip: Don’t rely on borders or frames to line up perfectly at the edge — slight shifts are normal in production.
5️⃣ Colour & Print Accuracy
✅ RGB colour mode is fine for uploads.
- Our systems handle conversion to print-ready formats.
✅ Be aware of slight variations.
- Screen colours can look different from printed colours.
- Substrates (ceramic, wood, textiles) all take ink differently.
✅ Best practice:
- Avoid neon or extremely bright colours that screens show but print can’t replicate.
- Order a sample to check colour results in real life.
6️⃣ Responsibility for Artwork Quality
✅ We print exactly what you upload.
- We don’t manually check or fix artwork.
- The final print is only as good as the file provided.
✅ Always double-check:
- Resolution and size
- Transparency handling
- Placement in the design tool
✅ Need to be sure?
- Use our design tool’s preview function.
- Order a sample to see it in person before selling widely.
